I had to head to Rotterdam for work for a night, so ended up booking the Main Port hotel via the Marriott / SPG website.
The Main Port is part of Design Hotels, which a few years ago signed an agreement with what was Starwood, to allow people to book, earn points and redeem points via their website. That’s continued on with the Marriott acquisition.
Check-in was swift and I was given a room on the fourth floor of the hotel. The hallways were very funky and seemed nicely designed.

The room that I was given was great – just a shame that I arrived and left in darkness. The full height windows gave a fantastic view over Rotterdam. The room was nicely appointed and there was a large king bed, orange arm chair, and decent sized work desk too.

The bathroom was also rather fabulous with a huge jacuzzi style bath, that I never actually got to use, again with floor to ceiling views over the city. With a handy blind as well to prevent people from looking in. Well, unless you want them to! 🙈

There was an in-room espresso machine, using Illy coffee pods. There was also a small mini bar with a variety of snacks as well as everything else you’d expect from a decent four star hotel.

Clearly Rotterdam isn’t the most picturesque of cities, but still, it was cool to have a view like this, even if it was pretty dark outside.

The next morning, I needed to leave reasonably early to head into the office, so just had time for a quick breakfast and cup of coffee before getting a water taxi in. Definitely better than an Uber!

Thoughts
Overall, I was actually very impressed by the hotel. It ticked all the boxes, had decent fast wifi, a comfortable bed, lovely bathroom with Malin & Goetz products, and a good breakfast. As I was there for work, I didn’t really have a chance to use any of the other amenities on offer, but would have no hesitation in returning.
